Review
The enemies to lovers was 10/10 and I ate it up. This is one of the few romance books that actually did enemies to lovers well. The banter was also 10/10, they were literally so cute. I love a good slow burn enemies to lovers.
Liya is a certified baddie! She's a biochemical engineer for crying out loud! She's smart, strong, independent, and beautiful. She's not a pushover and does not take bs from any man, including her own pos father. (Her father was such a misogynist and overall terrible father Liya and husband to his wife). Liya doesn't buy into South Asian norms for women, such as having to get married and be housewife whose only purpose is to serve her husband and pop out babies. I love that she uses her own hard earned money to buy all her designer bags, clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Also, she has impeccable style. Her character had lot of depth to her and once to get to know her backstory, it's understandable why she doesn't like men.
Jay is a true romantic! He's got the brains and braun, he's a lawyer and he's stylish and good looking. He thinks for himself and doesn't let rumours form his opinions of others, even when everyone around him has the same opinion. Jay stands up for Liya and always believes in her no matter what. He's a family man who cares deeply for his family and takes care of them as best as he can. Just like Liya, Jay also has a sad backstory that helps the reader to understand why he is the way that he is. Jay is such a badass.
Overall, I would highly recommend The Trouble with hating You. But please be aware that this book deals with SA, death, and abuse. Read at your own discretion!

Some scenes/ lines that I liked.
1. "Are you always this mouthy?
"Yes"
"You should put that mouth to better use." " I mean by being nice"
2. "Well, what can I say? There's just something about his upturned chin and conceited smile that makes me want to punch him."
3. Well, you know why I did. Good to see you again, Liya."
"Rein in that enthusiasm: you might burst."
4. And what a sap I was, because I waited in my car down the street. Over twenty minutes went by and no cab, no Liya.
5. "I may or may not punch you in the throat if I see you again. But rest assured, people will find out."
6. All I knew was that I didn't want Jay to hide his smile from me.
7. "I thought will all the work and independence, and anti-Indian stuff, that you were also anti-cook."
8. "They also double as eye-gougers. Want to test?"
9. "I'm sorry babe."
"Did you just call me 'babe'?"
10. I knew that I could never let this woman go. She had become my remedy, my everything.
11. "I am so in love with you, you may never know the full extent of my devotion, but I promise to show it every day, In how I treat you, not like a princess, but a queen. Not as my submissive other half, but as my equal. I know you can take care of yourself, but should someone try to hurt you, they'll still have me to deal with. Not one day will go by without you feeling my love, in action, words... or when we turn down for bed every night."
