Review

It was so predictable. Around the 30% mark I had the whole plot twist figured out and I was right. I feel like once you've read one Freida McFadden book, you've read them all because her twists always seem to be the same. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would because I liked her other works. This one felt very rushed, especially at the end. For most of the book, nothing happens, it just feels like Sydney is living the same day over and over again. It did get a bit boring in the middle when things became a bit repetitive.

Sydney has ZERO common sense or natural instincts! The red flags could be waving at her and she would still think they're green. It's hard to believe that she's 35 because her thought process is that of a teenager. She'll literally have a moment of clarity about something but then immediately follow it up with, "but that's probably not it. That's not possible." Like hello???? She went on a date and the guy scammed her by making her pay for half of his food even though she only got a coke and salad and he got a bunch of things. She realized it before she paid, but didn't confront him about it, just let him scam her. Sydney made so many stupid decisions throughout the book and she was just so frustrating to read about.  Her whole personality is that she's single and in her mid-thirties and she wants to find the love of her life. As the reader, I learned nothing about her besides being 35 , WFH accountant and has two best friends.

Overall, I only enjoyed the chapters that weren't from her perspective, it was very predictable and the FMC is dumber than a sack of rocks. If you want something fast paced and easy to read, then I would recommend The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden.
