Review
This book made me laugh, but it also made me feel so many emotions. I really like how complex the MCs were and how they grew throughout the book. One thing about Ms. Henry is that she knows how to write character development. I really loved reading about these two characters falling in love and helping each other through their problems. I really loved how Daphne and Miles brought out the best in each other.
Daphne's struggle with getting close to people and trusting them was very relatable to a lot of people, myself included. She's always had a hard time trusting people and when she finally does after so many years, her ex-fiancé brings her worst fear to life, that she was right all along in not trusting others. Because she distrusts people, she finds comfort and solace in the company of fictional characters (again, relatable for a lot of people, including myself). Daphne's growth through out the book great, she had amazing character development. Daphne is my second favourite Emily Henry character after Nora from Book Lovers.
Miles at first was not the type of MMC that I like, because he's kind of a stoner bum, but clearly this is why you don't judge a book by its cover. I ended up really loving Miles. He was always so gentle with Daphne and cared about her feelings! There's a few scenes that I can think of where he did this, but since this is a spoiler free review, I will not mention them. Miles also had his struggle of being a chronic people pleaser and feeling like it's his job to fix everything. My heartached for him when he blamed himself for things that were clearly not his fault nor his responsibility to fix.
Overall, I loved Funny Story. I 100% recommend it to all romance book fans. Daphne and Miles are so adorable!!
