Review

Another disappointing read from Ali Hazelwood. This was so bland and unoriginal. For a paranormal romance, there really was a lack of romance and it felt more like a fantasy due to the heavy focus on the world building and politics.  The main characters have zero chemistry, considering this is supposed to be a romance book. They go from feeling absolutely nothing for each other to feeling everything, it felt like she forgot that this was supposed to be a romance book and added it at the end. I felt like Misery had more chemistry with her friend than with Lowe.  Vampire being spelt "vampyre" was also weird and unnecessary. One of the things that made me have a hard time getting into the book and enjoying it was all the info dumping right off the bat, I detest when authors do this because it comes across as lazy and makes me lose interest in the book. If the first page starts with info dumping, it makes me want to DNF because it's not attention grabbing and it's just overwhelming.

I usually talk about each other MC separately, but Misery and Lowe both lacked detailed physical characteristics and personality traits, that it's not even worth writing about them separately. Lowe is huge and towers over Misery even though she's like 5'9 or something. Their lack of chemistry is what did it in for me with this book. I didn't like either of them. He can't be near her because of her scent... sounds familiar. Also, can we talk about their names? Misery? Lowe? Just because they're the MCs doesn't mean they need to have weird names.

Ali Hazelwood should just stick to STEM romances and stop publishing multiple books every year. Bride felt like a cash grab to me. It reads like Wattpad fanfic, maybe even worse. I would only recommend if you're a diehard stan of hers.
