Review

I can say that the book did deliver on the Christmas-y aspect, but that was about the only thing I enjoyed. It read a lot more like a middle grade book than YA, especially because the MCs acted very childish and acted like 10 year olds rather than 16- 17 year olds. I did have a hard time distinguishing between the MCs POVs because they were pretty much written as one person. The competition was boring, uninteresting, and really didn't add anything to the book. I think that the competition should've been a subplot rather than the main plot. I did enjoy the idea of the MCs swapping countries, however I think that it could've been executed differently. The ending felt rushed and a bit incomplete. I don't like when holiday books use of Christmas as the deadline for the plot, because the book usually starts like a week or two before Christmas, which leaves  the book feeling really rushed. I think because this book is YA, but none of the MCs had parent issues and it was a breath of fresh air for me. I also definitely enjoyed Elle's POV more than Holly's, she read like a child, not teenager. There was no character growth with either Holly or Elle, which was disappointing.

Overall, It was quite boring and honestly that could be because I'm not the target audience for this book. I was close to DNFing it multiple times, but pushed through it because I enjoyed how festive it was. I would recommend this book only if you really enjoy YA books.
