Review
The last Abby Jimenez book I read was a hit for me, so I had high hopes for Say You'll Remember Me and it did not disappoint one bit. I will say though, that I did not like the insta-love, but I think Jimenez did it well. The insta-love was the reason why I gave it 4.5 stars, but other than that I really enjoyed this book.
The pacing was great, there weren't any parts that felt like it was unnceasssy or made the book feel like it was dragging. Usually romance books with 400+ pages tend to drag on and have a lot of unnecessary dialogue and scenes, but I did not feel that way about Say You'll Remember Me". I was completely captivated from start to finish because how intriguing the plot was. I was completely captivated from start to finish because how intriguing the plot was. I didn't like how they were literally going broke travelling to each other. You really shouldn't go broke travelling to see your significant other, no matter how much you love them.
Samantha's family situation was complex and there was a lot of family drama, however I enjoyed learning more about her family and seeing her navigate all the problems. I liked her family dynamic for the most part because her family were all very loving towards each other. An illness like dementia can cause a strain on the family members of person with dementia and I think Jimenez did a good job showing that with Sam's family. She moves across the country to be there for her mom and her family. I really liked her character.
Xavier's family drama I was not as interested in because it just felt like Jimenez wanted Samantha and Xaiver to have opposite family dynamics. Where Sam's family is close knit and loving, Xaiver's is distant and cold.He also has no siblings whereas Sam has two. I would like to see him actually resolve his family trauma by going to therapy because it really never gets resolved. I also would've liked to see him confront his parents about how they treated him growing up.
Overall, it was a fun read and I would definitely recommend it.
