Review
This book was getting hyped all over book tube, booktok and bookstagram, so I thought I would give it a try since Icebreaker got a lot of hype. I haven't read Icebreaker yet, so Wildfire is my first book by Hannah Grace and I did not like it. I went into the book without any knowledge of the plot other than it takes place at a summer camp, which is a given based on the cover. I was not aware that the trope was one night stand and that's my least favourite trope. I like slow burn, so Russ and Aurora hooking up in the first few pages of the book almost made me DNF it.
I felt that Aurora and Russ were both very bland and their whole personalites were their daddy issues. It honestly became really annoying/ overdone. I didn't really learn a lot about either of the MCs and for me, that made me quite uninterested in the book. It also didn't help that there wasn't really any plot, nothing really happened. The stakes for Russ and Aurora being "forbidden" from dating was very low and also contributed to how boring the book was. There were a few cute moments throughout, but it was overshadowed by how boring the rest of it was. I felt that Russ and Aurora's relationship was based on lust and trauma bonding more than a genuine connection and romantic feelings and for that I wasn't really rooting for them to get together.
Overall, I did not enjoy Wildfire by Hannah Grace, there was no plot and the main characters were very bland with little character development. I would not recommend it if you want a slow burn romance.
